King Charles’ Finances Face Major Change Amid Reports Camilla Made a Last-Minute Edit to His Will · STYLECASTER
King Charles will have to wait a bit for a pay raise. A new report shows how the royal family’s spending will change in the next fiscal year.
A report from NBC News shows that the Sovereign Grant remained at around 86 million pounds ($110 million) for the 2024-2025 year. The grant is paid for by the public and used for royal spending. The grant will rise to around $170 million for the 2025-2026 year. The grant pays for upkeep and will help the royal family on their official visits, upkeep of royal residences, and paying their staff. However, Charles’ salary is expected to be the same.
According to the report, royal family members were involved in “1,900 public engagements in the UK and overseas, while more than 93,000 guests attended 828 events at Official Royal Palaces.” The report also stated that the royal family had received additional income of 21.5 million pounds ($29 million). It was reported that Charles had received a raise of 45 million pounds (approximately $56 million) from the British public this year.
The royal family gets their income from four places: the Sovereign Grant, the Duchy of Lancaster and Duchy of Cornwall estates and their personal property and investments. After the coronation, Prince William was bestowed with the responsibilities of being the Duke of Cornwall.
The new change comes after reports say that the King is being urged to revise his will by his wife Queen Camilla. This revision could affect Prince Harry considerably by not giving his fair share. The change, if it happens, is thought to heavily benefit Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their children. The reports also indicate that the will also heavily favors Camilla’s son Tom Parker Bowles, Charles’s stepson and also his godson, is also reportedly being considered for a notable share.
With the King’s health reportedly ailing, funeral plans have amped up and Prince Harry is said to carry a significant role. The Telegraph recently reported that the King has factored not only Prince Harry but Meghan Markle and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, into the heart of his funeral plans. The outlet also reported that they will both be invited to take part in the family vigil during the lying-in-state at Westminster Hall and play a prominent role alongside the most senior royals during the funeral service.
